Mid-Spring

May 1st is the mid-point of Spring and this year it was graced by the presence of the Full Flower Moon. It's at this time of year the flowers are bursting all around us and suddenly our world is once again filled with color. The days are feeling long and the pull to be outside, to be energetic is strong.

Much like the flowers blooming, this is a great time to consider how we are blossoming. This is when when we want to set things up for motion and plan for joy. After a long winter, we want to soak up as much of this energetic time as possible. It is time to finally sign up for that course you've always eyed, register for the rec league, or take whatever other step that will help you burst forward.

It's important to remember balance, so as you set yourself up for a summer of growth, be sure to remember to not over extend yourself. Push yourself in new directions, but remember you are the one who will be following through on these promises. Be sure to set yourself up for success and plan for joy as well, which may look like proactively planning for space or free time.

Here are journal prompts to help you blossom:

  • When do you feel the most beautiful? The most alive?

  • What is one thing you can do to make an active step in putting your plans into motion?

  • Where have you built rest or fun into your plans?

Ritual Ideas for Mid-Spring

  1. Embrace the colors of the season! Dress in many colors, bring bright flowers into your home, paint a colorful picture. Identify one (or more) ways to bring color into your everyday. As you bring these colors in, remind yourself that the plans you create are to enjoy your life, but enjoying your life can happen now, too.

  2. Create a flower crown (or wreath if you prefer). This can be done out of real flowers if you have access to them, or you could create flowers out of paper. As you create this circle of flowers, imagine each flower as a wish you are weaving. The resulting circle represents an endless cycle of hope and anticipation. Where this crown when you want to feel a little whimsical, special, and full or wonder or display it as a wreath in a spot that needs to bring in more hope.
